Music Ministry
The purpose of the Worship Ministry at Sulphur First Baptist Church is to honor God by preparing and prompting His people in corporate and individual expressions of praise. The Worship Ministry leads believers into meaningful worship of God. It also seeks to present the good news of Jesus Christ to those who don't know Him through various music presentations throughout the year.

EVERYONE has a place in the ministry of music at our church. Regardless of the level of our skills or how we feel about our musical abilities, there's no escaping the command of God's Word

"Let EVERYTHING that has life and breath praise the Lord ....... teach one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs."

Worship is at the heart of services at Sulphur First Baptist church. The worship style is what is commonly referred to as blended worship. The best of traditional hymns and contemporary praise and worship is blended together to create a worship experience that is enjoyable for all ages. We recognize that God can speak and move through both traditional hymns and contemporary choruses.

Whether it is through corporate worship, choir specials, solos or instrumental pieces , music enhances the worshiper's experience and helps lead in moments of transformation and wonder.

Instruments currently include piano, keyboard, and organ but we are seeking to expand the team for a more contemporary sound as God brings more instrumentalist into our congregation.

If you have a musical gift, either singing or playing an instrument, contact our Minister of Music about how you can share that gift in serving the Lord.

Sanctuary Choir

Membership in Choir is open to anyone Junior High age or above who desires to use their voice in praise and worship of God.

This group rehearses Sunday evenings at 5:00 PM in the Choir room and leads in weekly worship services.

Choir rehearsal is intended primarily to prepare a wide variety of sacred music for Sunday morning worship and to develop musical skills, but it also provides a time of spiritual refreshment and great fellowship as we sing praises to the Lord.

The variety of musical style is broad, encompassing classical, gospel, spiritual and contemporary. We are always looking for new people as we seek to expand the ministry impact of our Choir.

SASO Choir

Our name, SASO stands for Senior Adults Sulphur Oklahoma and from the Psalm 107: 2 “Let the redeemed of the Lord Say So...” It is open to anyone age 50 and up. We are currently seeking some younger members to serve as chaperones, this bunch is getting a little difficult to control. Auditions are open any time. As a matter of fact we can audition you right now if you like. Breathe in..... now exhale. Congratulations you are in!

The choir’s membership is mainly Sulphur First Baptist folks but it is also open to anyone in the community that would like to sing and fellowship with us. Currently we have 7 or 8 different churches in our community represented.

The choir usually sings once a quarter in our morning worship service. (It is at 9:00 AM so folks from other churches can come and sing then head to their own church). We do a Christmas musical and a non-seasonal music through the year. The choir sings in nursing homes in our area, upon request and have done concerts at our local Veterans center. We also had the opportunity to sing the anniversary celebration of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

Music selections for this group is as eclectic as it’s members. It includes Light Classics, Anthems, Southern Gospel and even some Contemporary praise arrangements.

Come and join us for rehearsals Tuesday’s at 1 PM in the choir room. We would love for you to be a part!

Children Desiring God Choir

Each Christmas season, beginning about October, we turn our entire Wednesday evening children’s ministry into a choir. The group is open to 1st - 6th grade and we have had as many as 92 kids on the platform during our musical. Our Christmas presentation is usually held the last Wednesday night before school is let out.

It is an exciting time and always a big part of our Christmas celebration here at Sulphur First Baptist.

SOLO & Small Ensemble Opportunities

At Sulphur First Baptist we have many opportunities for soloists (vocal and instrumental), duets, trios, and other special music. We use volunteers to provide special music for a variety of worship experiences including our Sunday morning and evening worship services, and special evening worship services throughout the year.
